Archer receives Community Cornerstone Award

CornerBank has announced that CoNette Archer is the Community Cornerstone Award recipient for the month of March. In recognition of her accomplishments, CornerBank will contribute $50 each to the Winfield Food Pantry and Cowley County Historical Society.
A reception honoring CoNette will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 26, in the CornerBank lobby, 900 Main.
The public is invited to attend the reception.

CoNette has volunteered in a variety of capacities, including the Red Cross Disaster Relief for the 1998 Ark City flood, Grace Episcopal Outreach Program, Grade Episcopal Vestry, Cowley County Historical Society Museum, Winfield Community Food Pantry and Eagle Nest. She serves as the web designer and web master for the CCHS Museum.

She has served on the following committees: Montessori Preschool Committee, Habitat for Humanity garage sale and dinner set-up, Meals on Wheels delivery for American Legion and a general substitute driver for six years, Friends of Library and Grace Episcopal decorating committee.

CoNette earned a bachelor of science in Psychology, a masters degree in guidance and counseling, an EdS in School Psychology and is certified in Early Childhood and Intellectually Handicapped. She has six children plus a foster child for six years. She moved to Winfield after marrying Bill Archer in 1995. She retired the first time in 1998 and then worked part-time as a school psychologist for the Cowley County Special Services Co-operative from 1999 to 2002.

Archer was selected for the award by the Community Cornerstone Award selection committee, which includes Cindy Goertz, Ned Graham, Ralph Hanna, Roger Lungren, Sheryle Ohm and Nancy Tredway. All are previous recipients of the Cornerstone Award. Volunteers are the cornerstones of healthy communities. The Community Cornerstone Award recognizes the time and effort of volunteers dedicated to serving people and enhancing the quality of life in Cowley County.
