Pappan receives Community Cornerstone Award
Clayton grew up in Arkansas City, graduating from both ACHS and Cowley College. He went on to further his education at Oklahoma State University, were he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in advertising and sales. He married his high school sweetheart, Jamie Sybrant, and together they decided to return to their hometown to be close to family. They have 3 children, Kenzie, and twins Reese and Taylor.
Clayton began his career after college with the Arkansas City Traveler as a sales representative for the advertising department and quickly was promoted to Advertising Director. He remained in that role until November 2001, when he accepted the position of Director of Marketing for South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center. Clayton continues to work for the medical center today as Chief Marketing Officer, overseeing all hospital promotions, working as part of the facility’s administrative team, and providing guidance to many other departments.
NWhile not a work, Clayton has worked hard to give back to his hometown. He actively attends Central Christian Church. Volunteer activities include member of the Ark City Rotary Club, serving as present 2012-2013, member of Arkansas City Public Library Board of Trustees, member of the Arkansas City Chamber of Commerce Communications Committee, member of the City of Arkansas City Comprehensive Plan, Land Use Regulations and Capital Improvement Steering Committee, and has been volunteer coach for the Ark City Youth Soccer Association for nine seasons.
In addition, he has served on the following committees and boards: CornerBank Advisory Board 2010-2013, Cowley College Humanities Advisory Board, Arkansas City Chamber of Commerce Small Business Promotions Committee, Arkansas City Chamber Membership Committee, Shop Cowley County First Task Force, and Arkalalah Medallion Search Committee.
Clayton’s hobbies include spending time with his friends and family, woodworking, and constructing an elaborate “haunted garage” each Halloween for the neighborhood trick-or-treaters.
