In 1872, First National Bank of Winfield was founded to help meet the financial needs of a new community. As consumers’ financial needs changed, we adapted to meet those needs. In 1981, the banks’ owners formed the holding company First National Bancshares of Winfield, Inc., which later became Cornerstone Alliance, Ltd. (CALTD). As a financial holding company, CALTD has positioned itself to better serve our customers, not only through its banking subsidiary – CornerBank, but also through its non-banking subsidiaries – CornerBank Insurance Agency, LLC and Walnut Valley Title.
During its history, CornerBank has had 10 bank Presidents, with President Bruce Schwyhart joining our organization in 1996. Headquartered in Winfield, Kansas, CornerBank now has about $280 million in assets, nearly 100 employees in nine locations serving seven Kansas communities: Arkansas City, Douglass, Lawrence, Oxford, Wellington, Wichita and Winfield. CornerBank serves more than 10,000 customers, with thousands enjoying CornerBank’s broad array of electronic options including online banking, mobile banking and text banking.
CornerBank has weathered many financial storms, including the Great Depression and multiple recessions, in its more than 140-year history and the bank continues to be on your corner and in your corner.
